Ray Bradbury

1. “Don't think. Thinking is the enemy of creativity. It's self-conscious, and anything self-conscious is lousy. You can't try to do things. You simply must do things.”
2. “Find out what your hero or heroine wants, and when he or she wakes up in the morning, just follow him or her all day.”
3. "First you jump off the cliff and you build wings on the way down."
4. “Half the fun of travel is the esthetic of lostness.”
5. “I don't try to describe the future. I try to prevent it.”
6. “If we listened to our intellect, we'd never have a love affair. We'd never have a friendship. We'd never go into business, because we'd be cynical. Well, that's nonsense. You've got to jump off cliffs all the time and build your wings on the way down.”
7. “If you did not write every day, the poisons would accumulate and you would begin to die, or act crazy or both - you must stay drunk on writing so reality cannot destroy you.”
8. "If you don't like what you're doing, then don't do it."
9. “[My stories] run up and bite me on the leg - I respond by writing down everything that goes on during the bite. When I finish, the idea lets go and runs off.”
10. “On this moor is no Time, is only Forever.”
11. “Stuff your eyes with wonder . . . live as if you'd drop dead in ten seconds. See the world. It's more fantastic than any dream made or paid for in factories.”
12. “The best scientist is open to experience and begins with romance -- the idea that anything is possible.”
13. “The human race likes to give itself airs. One good volcano can produce more greenhouse gases in a year than the human race has in its entire history.”
14. ”The television, that insidious beast, that Medusa which freezes a billion people to stone every night, staring fixedly, that Siren which called and sang and promised so much and gave, after all, so little.”
15. “The Universe is thronged with fire and light, And we but smaller suns, which, skinned, trapped and kept Enshrined in blood and precious bones, hold back the night.”
16. “Touch a scientist and you touch a child.”
17. "We are an impossibility in an impossible universe."
18. “We are cups, constantly and quietly being filled. The trick is knowing how to tip ourselves over and let the Beautiful Stuff out."
19. "We are the miracle of force and matter making itself over into imagination and will. Incredible. The Life Force experimenting with forms. You for one. Me for another. The Universe has shouted itself alive. We are one of the shouts."
20. “We're all fools...all the time. It's just we're a different kind each day. We think, I'm not a fool today. I've learned my lesson. I was a fool yesterday but not this morning. Then tomorrow we find out that, yes, we were a fool today too. I think the only way we can grow and get on in this world is to accept the fact we're not perfect and live accordingly.”
21. "You don’t have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them."
22. “You have to know how to accept rejection and reject acceptance.”
23. “You've got to jump off cliffs all the time and build your wings on.”
