Pairs

Life's possibilities come in pairs: goodness and evil, short and tall, strong and weak, hot and cold--and also pain and pleasure. The existence of one assures the possibility of the other. Every possible blessing is also a possible pain.


Take love out of the human heart and you will also be taking away most of our capacity to be hurt, but that is too high a price to pay.
