Hazrat Inayat Khan

1. “Every imagination is intuition until it has been corrupted by reason, and when the intuition is corrupted by reason it becomes fantasy. For as soon as we begin to think it out, we at once descend from the higher, the spiritual source of information, and use earthly means to establish what belongs to heaven. Therefore the first condition is to separate this outer knowledge from the inner knowing.”

3. “...In dream consciousness...we make things happen by wishing them, because we are not only the observer of what we experience but also the creator. 6. “Sometimes we find satisfaction in self-pity. The reason is that it is our nature to find satisfaction in love; and when we are confined to ourselves we being to love ourselves, and then self-pity arises because we feel our limitation. But the love of self always brings dissatisfaction, for the self is not made to be loved; the self is made to love. The first condition to love is to forget oneself.”

In the murmur of the wind I hear Thy flute.
The waves of the sea beat the rhythm of Thy
dancing steps.
Through the whole of nature I hear Thy spirit
call.
My Beloved,
My soul while dancing speaketh of its joy in
song!”
11. “To look at everything, trying to see what is behind it, to see it in its right light, requires divine illumination, a spiritual outlook on life. And this outlook is attained by the increase of compassion. The more compassion one has in one's heart, the more the world will being to look different.”
